TASTING NOTES

Production

The Barbera grapes used for this wine come from the youngest vineyards owned by the winery, planted in soils rich in sand and clay. The must ferments with the skins for about 10 days, then ages in stainless steel for 4 months before undergoing secondary fermentation in autoclave (tank fermentation). Nutritional values: E in 100ml: 331 kJ/80 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

The color is ruby red, almost leaning towards violet, with a rich and lively foam. On the nose, it is fresh and fragrant, with clear vinous and fruity notes that recall small red berries, cherry, and blackberry, along with subtle floral and spicy hints. On the palate, it is exceptionally easy to drink, fresh and vibrant.

Occasion and Pairing

This Piedmontese red is perfect for everyday drinking, and its freshness makes it an ideal match for cured meats.

Serving Temperature

THE WINERY

Braida

Behind the name of the Braida winery lies the story of a passion: a passion for excellence, not only between the rows of vines but in all fields. Giuseppe, forefather of the Bologna family, was in fact nicknamed 'Braida', after a famous footballer, because of his habit for playing ball in the piazzas of Rocchetta Tanaro, a small town in the Monferrato area of Asti. Thus, as well as his father's nickname and love of sport, Giacomo Bologna inherited the wit and perseverance needed to take care of a large Barbera vineyard in the hills of Rocchetta. Such gifts mean that he is still a champion in the field of Piedmontese wines. The first harvest of Braida wines dates back to 1961, when Giacomo decided to bottle the lively 'La Monella', which won him the gold medal at the Douja d'Or national wine competition in Asti. Armed with lengthy research and tenacity, he dared to age Barbera in French barriques, a technique not practised in Italy at the time. With his famous Bricco dell'Uccellone, he went beyond conventions and convictions of the past, demonstrating the high level of quality, finesse and character achievable with this grape variety. Today, Giuseppe and Raffaella Bologna, the third generation of Braidas, continue the process of conquering the noble status of Barbera with hard work and dedication, claiming the banner over other wineries abroad. Thanks to their precious team, every day they consolidate the value of their heritage made up of biodiversity and production rigour, genius, imagination and respect for tradition. Name and address of producer/distributor: Braida - Via Roma, 94, 14030 Rocchetta Tanaro AT. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
