TASTING NOTES

Production

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Bertani is made from a historic blend of Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes, sourced from iron-rich marl-limestone soils. After careful selection and harvesting, the bunches are placed in traditional drying rooms without any forced temperature or humidity control. They rest on wooden racks for 120 days before pressing and vinification. The wine is aged in medium to large Slavonian oak barrels for 7 years, followed by an additional year of bottle aging.

Organoleptic Characteristics

A wine of great personality and elegance, it presents a deep red color with garnet hues. The nose showcases typical notes of plum, cherry, and sour cherry, followed by hints of tea leaf, licorice, and spices that emerge from the aging process. On the palate, there are sensations of red berry fruit, softened by smooth spicy notes, perfectly balanced with acidity and tannins.

Occasion and Pairing

Amarone di Bertani pairs wonderfully with meat dishes or aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Bertani

Renowned for the production of excellent Veneto wines, the Bertani estate is located in Quinto di Valpantena, near Verona. The founders, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, combined enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit to produce fine, bold wines, thanks also to the French techniques of Professor Guyot, as learnt by Gaetano. With its two cellars and vineyards in the Valpantena Classica area and its estates in the Soave and Lake Garda areas, Bertani was one of the first Italian companies to promote the bottling of wine, with investments and advanced viticultural and winemaking production techniques. All while respecting the terroir and local culture. The recognition of excellence dates back to 1923, with the approval of the royal family. The more than 200 hectares of vineyards include the two historic Grezzana wine cellars, for vinification and bottling, and Tenuta Novare, near Arbizzano di Negrar. From these estates come two of Veneto's most sought-after red wines, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Amarone, icons of the area. But production does not stop there: renowned white wines such as Soave also come from the Bertani estate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Bertani - Via Asiago, 1 - 37023 Grezzana VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
