TASTING NOTES

Production

The grapes are harvested by hand into small containers for transport to the winery. After gentle whole-bunch pressing, the must is clarified through natural sedimentation. 50% of the must is fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats and 50% is fermented in large oak barrels. Following alcoholic fermentation, the portion aged in wood undergoes malolactic fermentation, followed by ageing on fine lees for 7 months. 100 ml: E=331 kJ / 79 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

A fresh, smooth and enveloping white wine: a luminous expression of South Tyrol. Mineral, citrus and floral aromas emerge from a fine, sustained texture that is simple yet captivating.

Thanks to its delicate, fresh and full-bodied character, Platt & Riegl is well suited to a wide variety of occasions. It pairs beautifully with starters and fish dishes and is very popular as an aperitif.

THE WINERY

Girlan

The members of the Giuseppe Mascarello family have been involved in viticulture for over a century and a half, running the Cascina Manescotto in the municipality of La Morra. For a long time, the family imposed strict rules on itself to protect the environment and the land on which the vineyards stand: the Nebbiolo has long been the symbolic and most prized variety in Langhe vinification. In this area of Piedmont, it has been able to find the right combination with a terroir of great vocation, knowing how to express itself at sublime levels in a wine of marked personality, intensity of aromas, great velvety tannins and the possibility of great evolution and endurance over time. The Mascarello e Figlio family's vineyards are located on an estate of about 15 hectares, all of them in the Barolo area. Name and address of producer/distributor: Azienda Agricola Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio di Mauro Mascarello s.s., Località Borgonuovo, 108, 12060 Monchiero (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
