TASTING NOTES

The South Tyrol South Tyrol DOC Gewürztraminer of Cantina di Bolzano was born on the slopes that surround Bolzano between 400 and 600 meters high. The harvest period is crucial because a good Gewürztraminer has the right aromatic complexity. The grapes are harvested at full maturity between late September and early October. After a short cold maceration and a low temperature fermentation to preserve the aromatic content, the wine ages a few months in steel. It is bottled still young and fresh. The glass has a straw yellow color tending to golden, where aromas of litchi, yellow grapefruit and dog rose arrive. Hints of cinnamon and cloves can be perceived on the finish. The mouthfeel is full and warm, soft and full of fruity taste. The finish is long, slightly bitter and typical. Excellent in combination with fish dishes with spicy preparations, on cheese fresh or on a shrimp salad. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 12/14 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Cantina di Bolzano

Bronze-coloured aluminium walls stand out among the surrounding vineyards, decorated with branches resembling stylised vine leaves. This is the new symbol of Bolzano's winegrowing tradition: the Cantina Bolzano - Kellerei Bozen. The design of the building symbolises the quality and excellence of Alto Adige wines, the first CasaClima Wine®-certified wine cellar. It is here that the winegrowers dedicate themselves to making the wines of Kellerei Bozen unique, combining new knowledge and ancient traditions. Characterised by constant dedication, care before and after harvest and maturation of the wine in the cellars, under the watchful eye of experienced winegrowers, Cantina Bolzano offers an inimitable selection of fine wines. The diversity of the Alto Adige wine region, which is expressed in the nature and wines of the region, offers favourable conditions for the cultivation of varied, quality wines, from the white Gewürztraminer to Alto Adige red wines such as Pinot Noir. Today, 224 winegrowing members work there, united by passion, variety and the tradition of their land.
