D'Angelo's Aglianico del Vulture is made from the eponymous grapes, which are aged for 18 months in barriques and a further 8 months in the bottle. It is a wine as forthright and robust as the terroir from which it comes: an area of Basilicata rich in minerals and nutrients which, thanks to its volcanic soil, endows the wines with rich and complex organoleptic qualities, tending towards the mineral. Aglianico is a grape variety unknown to many, as it was introduced a very long time ago, yet it possesses distinctive characteristics: rich in polyphenols and tannins, traits that give it longevity and the ability to develop exceptional qualities of balance and character. 100 ml: E=335 kJ/80 kcal
Aglianico di D'Angelo presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red colour, revealing aromas of dried flowers, small black forest fruits, rhubarb and spices on the nose. On the palate, it surprises with its tannic intensity, which is distinct yet well-integrated, with a long, fresh finish.
Its minerality makes it perfect paired with pasta dishes featuring meat sauce, roast or oven-baked meat, or stewed sausages.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.
