TASTING NOTES

Production

It was in 1974 that Enrico Teruzzi, an engineer by trade and a winegrower by passion, founded the winery together with his wife on the outskirts of San Gimignano. The idea was to share his passion through the most powerful tool of conviviality: wine. Today, the Teruzzi estate covers 180 hectares, 96 of which are vineyards, 62 of these dedicated solely to Vernaccia. Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a noble, historic wine that for centuries has graced the tables of nobles, kings and queens; it was the first Italian wine to obtain DOC status in 1966 and remains a white wine of great character to this day. Vernaccia di San Gimignano Sant’Elena is produced from grapes grown on the 3 hectares of the Sant’Elena vineyard in Racciano, situated at an altitude of 350 metres. Vinification takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks; as for ageing, the wine rests for around 18 months on the fine lees, again in stainless steel tanks.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Intense straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is intense and complex, with a broad and varied aromatic bouquet. Notes of white flowers and citrus blend beautifully with mineral and flinty notes. The palate is enveloping, with good intensity, warmth and great length.

Occasion and Pairing

Try it with white meat dishes and simple pasta dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.

THE WINERY

Teruzzi

Teruzzi was established in 1974 in a beautiful and unrivalled location: San Gimignano. The link with the place of origin is very strong but dynamic, anchored in history as much as projected towards its contemporary enhancement. This is the challenge taken up by the Moretti family: innovation, respect for the territory and the Tuscan winegrowing tradition. An path that aims to exalt the heritage of nobility and character of San Gimignano and its most precious resource: Vernaccia. The company's agricultural estate covers an area of 180 hectares, 96 of which are planted with vines, 62 of which are dedicated to Vernaccia. A guarantee of variety in terms of soils, altitudes, slopes, microclimates, and many options for the best possible result. Indulge and direct the character of the grapes and try to transfer the highest possible synthesis into the bottle. Innovation has always accompanied the company's choices, from its foundation to the present day. This is the mission of Teruzzi, who imprints an original style on his wines, traceable to terroir and vintage but equal only to himself. Name and address of producer/distributor: Teruzzi e Puthod S.r.l. Società Agricola Località Casale, 19, 53037 – San Gimignano (SI). Products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
