TASTING NOTES

The mission of the Bastianich winery is to understand the history and culture of the land and take it to a new level, creating unique wines that speak of place, but, at the same time, show remarkable power and balance. The region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is located in the north-eastern corner of Italy. The Bastianich winery consists of 28 hectares. The vineyards are all located in the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC in two distinct areas. Ponca is the defining element of this hilly territory of Eocene origin, Collio precisely, consisting almost entirely of clay marl alternating with layers of sandstone. The winery established in 1997 grows both native and allochthonous varieties, seeking to create unique wines that speak of terroir. Venezia Giulia Vespa Bianco is a white Friulian wine by Bastianich, made from a careful selection and blending of Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes. The two varieties are fermented separately 50% in stainless steel and 50% in oak barrels. At the end of fermentation, a long period of lees stirring alternating with racking begins, after which it is assembled and bottled. It ages further in the bottle for more than 1 year. Vespa Bianco is a deep straw yellow colour with golden reflections, and on the nose it has notes of apricot in spirit, flowers and honey. Great minerality and softness on the palate, a wine of great elegance and finesse. To be tried during an aperitif with friends and we recommend pairing it with white meats and/or fried vegetables.
