La Giuva is a young winery whose name is an acronym of the names of the sisters Giulia and Valentina, who courageously decided to embark on a career in viticulture. Although it does not boast a long-standing tradition, the winery produces high-quality wines that are well worth discovering. Alberto Malesani has named his Valpolicella Superiore ‘Il Rientro’, a football term used in training and matches to ensure the whole team remains united and harmonious. Just like this wine, the result of harmonious teamwork, capable of surprising. In ‘Rientro’ one reads ‘Rito’ (ritual) because this wine is produced only by following a precise and meticulous ritual. Il Rientro Valpolicella Superiore is made from 50% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 20% Corvinone and 5% Oseleta and Croatina grapes. An expression of unique freshness, open to the typical characteristics of a light drying process, with aromatic notes of spices possessing a subtle sweetness that, on the finish, recall liquorice and conclude the tasting by lingering, as only great wines do. In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red colour, with broad and intriguing aromas on the nose accompanied by hints of intense red fruits. On the palate, it offers great structure and notes of morello cherry, blackberry, violet and a hint of sweet spice.
Il Rientro pairs magnificently with roast veal and pork, which are ideal for enjoying this wine. It is also excellent with game dishes or mature cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 14–16°C.
