The Antinori family is dedicated to the production of the most renowned Tuscan wines through the use of techniques, secrets and passion for the territory innovative and avant-garde. Marchesi Antinori Winery is the reference point for the wine production of the area, and is an expression of courage and wisdom in the production of wines that reflect the love for the territory, for an unforgettable final product. Tignanello Toscana IGT was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, modern and blended with non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet, and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white berried grapes. Tignanello is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes. The harvest began with Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, and ended with Cabernet Sauvignon. During the fermentation process in conical tanks, the must is macerated with extreme care for the maintenance of perfumes, for the extraction of color and the management of the sweetness and elegance of tannins. The racking takes place only after careful daily tastings. Once the skins are separated from the fermenting must, malolactic fermentation is started in barrique, to enhance the finesse and complexity of the aromas. The aging process takes place in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly second step, for a total period of 15 months. After an initial refining in separate batches, they are then assembled to complete the evolution in wood together. The wine then ages for a further 12 months in bottle before being placed on the market. It has an intense ruby red color, Tignanello impresses the nose for its complexity: notes of ripe fruit such as cherry, strawberry and blackberry accompany delicate floral hints of violet, mauve and rose. The bouquet is completed by toasted aromas from the aging in wood such as coffee and cocoa powder. The initial entrance to the palate is vibrant, enveloping and dimensional. On the finish, spicy and licorice notes are combined with pleasant sensations of aromatic herbs that give length and freshness. An ideal wine to forget in the cellar for a while, or to open with family or friends on important occasions. Ideal when combined with stewed red meat, game or roast meat.
