Tenuta Masseto is a magical place surrounded by woods and the influence of the sea breeze on hot summer days. Massetino debuted 30 years after the first vintage of Masseto: the birth of the second vin and the opening of the winery of Masseto during the same year were fundamental events for the history of the estate. The grapes are selected strictly to ensure the best possible quality. In 2017 the wines obtained from some parcels of Merlot and Cabernet Franc were considered for Masseto, but some had not developed the qualitative character to be included in the elder brother, so it was decided to include them in a second-vin, which together with other vines could show the potential and personality to create a master-blend. The inaugural year of Massetino is therefore 2017, debuting in 2019 in the market. After a first harvest of the grapes by hand, after destemming and a slight pressing, the grapes are transferred to cement by gravity and where each individual parcel is vinified separately. Fermentation takes place spontaneously by indigenous yeasts; then malolactic fermentation in new oak barrels for 50%. After the first 12 months of aging, the wine is blended and returned to barrique for another 3 months before bottling. The high expressive potential is perceived in the glass, a crisp wine with bright colors. The bouquet is capable of being remembered for its persistence and fullness, with vibrant and constantly evolving tannins. Great meditation wine, excellent in combination with mature cheeses and game. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC.
