La Segreta is the name of the woodland surrounding the Ulmo and Maroccoli vineyards of the eponymous Tenuta Ulmo, the estate where the grapes used to make Segreta Bianco are grown. We are in Menfi, on the east coast of Sicily between Lake Arancio, amidst deep, pebble-rich soils and at an altitude of up to 400 metres above sea level. This is the area covered by the Menfi DOC, which encompasses wines produced within a 16-kilometre radius inland from Sciacca. Planeta is a young winery which, since 1995, has quickly established itself among Sicily’s most important wine producers and has chosen to explore Fiano further, beginning in the 1990s with the introduction of this historic Campania grape variety, characteristic of the Irpinia region. The white wine La Segreta is a blend of native and international white grape varieties: 50% Grecanico, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Viognier and 10% Fiano. Vinification takes place at a temperature of 15°C in stainless steel vats. And 288kJ/69kcal per 100ml
