TASTING NOTES

Deltetto has been a family of winemakers since the end of the 19th century and since 2017 has been engaged in certified organic viticulture. The company's production takes place between the Roero and Langhe areas, different geological origins around Piedmont, the morphological compositions of which are reflected in the characteristics of the wines produced. The Roero has an alluvial soil characterised by sandstone, rocks made up of sand and limestone. This soft and mineral-rich soil is perfect for whites and reds, and provides perfumed, complex but at the same time very elegant wines. The Langhe, of more ancient origins, are instead characterized by a more compact soil composed of clays and marls. It is suitable for producing red wines with great structure, capable of ageing for a long time. The 777 selection was created from the Deltetto family's passion for the Pinot Noir grape variety, as a tribute to the French clone recognized throughout the world for its characteristics of concentration and longevity. The vineyard, planted on soil rich in marl not very far from the company, gives life to a wine whose structure and complexity fully reflect the typical characteristics of Piedmontese wines. Matured in oak barrels and barriques for 18 months, with subsequent bottle ageing, this pinot noir is a ruby red colour in the glass. Its scents range from small red berry fruits, undergrowth to a light toasted finish. The palate is broad, fresh, elegant and the tannin is refined. The finish is slightly balsamic. The perfect pairing ranges from pasta dishes filled with meat to meat based main courses, but its generous freshness could also lend itself to pairings with fish based main courses, with more structured flavours. THE WINERY

Deltetto

Founded by William Deutz and Pierre Geldermann, Maison Deutz was established in 1838 in Aÿ, in the Champagne region. Coming from Aquisgarana, the two settled in Aÿ and opened a small wine store. In 1838, they bought a small plot of land and started producing native varieties, with the desire to continue this production activity. William Deutz, who had previously worked for the Maison Bollinger, used his expertise in the cultivation and vinification of grapes. While Pierre Geldermann looked after the commercial and financial side of the house. In the following years, Maison Deutz was forced to cede a percentage of ownership of the wine cellar to Louis Roederer, but over time, Champagne Deutz established itself on the French wine scene, expanding more and more through the acquisition of new crus in the Cote de Blancs region as well. Over the years, the winery has been completely renovated and modernised: the musts ferment in stainless steel tanks and the parcel from which the grapes originate are transcribed in each one. The cuvée then rests in the house's underground cellars, located 60 metres below ground level. Producer/distributor name and address: Champagne Deutz - 16 Rue Jeanson, 51160 Aÿ-Champagne - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
