TASTING NOTES

The Vie de Romans winery is a historical winery located in Mariano del Friuli and one of the most representative in the region. Led by Gianfranco Gallo since 1978, it stands out for its profound knowledge of the terroir and the close link to the area. With great attention and care, Gianfranco Gallo carries on together with the tradition of bold and innovative winemaking choices. With the restructuring of the cellar in 1990, all the white wines began to be sold two years after the harvest. The grapes best express their potential thanks above all to the effect of the continental winds from the east, known as the Bora, which reach the Isonzo plateau from Slovenia and allow a good temperature range and a slow ripening of the grapes. Pinot Grigio Demissis is a dry white wine produced from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes from the Demissis vineyard, trained on the Guyot and spurred cordon system on a soil characterized by a good draining capacity and abundant rock content, ideal for this grape variety. After fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, the wine is refined by ageing on the lees for 10 months and a further 8 months in the bottle before leaving the cellar. To the eye, it has the typical coppery colour of Pinot Grigio, one of the most cultivated vines in the wine-growing regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The nose offers an intense bouquet of citrus fruits and fresh fruit. There are definite notes of grapefruit, lime, green apple, pear and a hint of exotic fruits and white flowers. In the mouth, it is soft and enveloping, thanks to the 10 months of batonnage, and well balanced. It is full of creaminess. The fruit is clear and juicy on the palate. Ideal for richer fish dishes such as salmon and tuna sashimi. Shellfish, grilled fish and white meats of veal and pork. To be opened as an aperitif with friends, at the beginning of the dinner instead of sparkling wine or to enjoy with first courses of fish. With this white Vie de Romans reaches very high levels and manages to give the right dimension to one of the most important and historic grape varieties of this area. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Vie di Romans

In the heart of the Langhe, an area known for the production of the traditional Barolo, Cantina Vietti has stood for four generations. However, it was in the 1960s that Alfredo Currado revolutionised wine production, from monovarietal vinification to Etichette d'Autore, original Vietti wines created by artists and inspired by a specific vintage. In the following years, the Vietti family continued along the road of experimentation in search of quality, contributing to the creation of one of the most renowned brands of Piedmontese wine made in Italy. To this day, Cantina Vietti, acquired by Krause Holdings, combines the traditions and passion carried on for generations with innovative techniques to ensure the production of high quality wines and an a href="https://www.signorvino.com/it/vini/inno_alla_natura/">viticoltura and sustainable viticulture that enhances and safeguards the surrounding terroir. The end result of the excellent Piedmontese wines produced by Cantina Vietti, which convey the love for the surrounding area and the dedication of its producers, can be appreciated on the palate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Vietti - Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 5, 12060 Castiglione Falletto (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
