TASTING NOTES

Cabernet Sauvignon Bonzarone is a still and dry red wine produced by the Tenuta Bonzara company, part of the Colli Bolognesi Doc. Tenuta Bonzara is located a few kilometres from the busy city of Bologna, nestled in the hills of Emilia-Romagna. Within this area, which is particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines, Tenuta Bonzara has been producing quality wines for about sixty years, reflecting the love and passion for this territory of the Lambertini family, who own the estate. In this beautiful setting surrounded by greenery, since 2004 the well-kept estate has also become a perfect venue for weddings and private events, including corporate meetings and team building activities. Tenuta Bonzara produces a variety of labels: from wines produced with the classic native grapes, including Pignoletto (Grechetto Gentile), to international varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. A kaleidoscopic assortment of wines, from the freshest and crispest varieties to more complex ones with a lingering finish. Cabernet Sauvignon Bonzarone is one of Tenuta Bonzara’s leading products. The wine is produced with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines that are around fifteen years old. The grapes are harvested manually and the bunches are selected one by one, despite previous thinning, so that the grapes can increase the intensity of their aromas and components, including polyphenols and extract. Vinification follows with long maceration on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months in barriques and finally for another 12 in the bottle. The result is a well-structured but elegant wine: with an intense ruby red colour and slight garnet hues, on the nose it has intense notes of wild berry jam and cherries, with mentholated hints, and clear signs of ageing in small wood barrels in the hints of tobacco and spices. On the palate it is full and warm, with ripe tannins. The long finish returns to notes of red berry fruit jam and spices. Perfect to drink every day, it goes perfectly with red meat dishes.
