TASTING NOTES

Production

Chianti Rufina Nipozzano is the wine of the Castello, the historic Tenuta Frescobaldi, a symbol of Tuscan winemaking tradition and its connection to the terroir. This Chianti is made from Sangiovese grapes, which are taken to the winery immediately after harvest. Here, once destemmed, they undergo spontaneous fermentation driven by indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once this is complete, the wine macerates in vats and undergoes malolactic fermentation, again in steel, before ageing in barriques over the following months. Further ageing in the bottle allows Nipozzano to express itself to the full, making it a wine of exceptional expressive balance.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it presents an intense, clear ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals fruity aromas, followed by floral notes of violet. Fresh and balsamic, it has pleasant spicy undertones of pepper, nutmeg and roasted Arabica coffee. On the palate, it is satisfying, harmonious, fresh, fruity and mineral, with a dense, silky tannic structure. The finish is pleasantly persistent and well-balanced in its various components.

Occasion and Pairing

A Chianti suitable for any occasion and perfect for accompanying savoury, well-structured meat dishes, ragù and succulent stews.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Frescobaldi

With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, when Florence was the most important commercial and cultural crossroads in the entire modern world, the Frescobaldi family has for centuries established itself as one of the largest wineries in Tuscany. The Frescobaldi vineyards extend for a total of 1200 hectares, distributed across several estates, each with a characteristic microclimate and terroir. The distinctive strength of this winery lies precisely in the ability of its managers to enhance the diversity and uniqueness of the Tuscan territory. Agronomists and oenologists collaborate to cultivate the vineyards in an environmentally friendly and eco-sustainable manner. Committed to this endeavor for 700 years now, the Frescobaldi family has expertly kept pace with innovation, masterfully interpreting the finest red wine labels, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Rosso di Montalcino. But all the wines from the Frescobaldi winery contain a kaleidoscopic bouquet of aromas and flavours that gives them an exceptional personality, perceptible at the mere glance. Savor the wines of this historic Tuscan winery. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Frescobaldi - Via Aretina, 120 - 50065 Sieci Florence (FI).
