Chianti Rufina Nipozzano is the wine of the Castello, the historic Tenuta Frescobaldi, a symbol of Tuscan winemaking tradition and its connection to the terroir. This Chianti is made from Sangiovese grapes, which are taken to the winery immediately after harvest. Here, once destemmed, they undergo spontaneous fermentation driven by indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once this is complete, the wine macerates in vats and undergoes malolactic fermentation, again in steel, before ageing in barriques over the following months. Further ageing in the bottle allows Nipozzano to express itself to the full, making it a wine of exceptional expressive balance.
In the glass, it presents an intense, clear ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals fruity aromas, followed by floral notes of violet. Fresh and balsamic, it has pleasant spicy undertones of pepper, nutmeg and roasted Arabica coffee. On the palate, it is satisfying, harmonious, fresh, fruity and mineral, with a dense, silky tannic structure. The finish is pleasantly persistent and well-balanced in its various components.
A Chianti suitable for any occasion and perfect for accompanying savoury, well-structured meat dishes, ragù and succulent stews.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
