TASTING NOTES

Charles Heidsieck was founded by Charles Camille back in 1851. Today, it is amongst the smallest of the Champagne Maison di Reims, but is of great value and quality. What makes this Maison so unique is its large underground chalk quarries that extend across 8 kilometres of tunnels, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs De Millenaires displays in a crystal glass with hints typical of Chardonnay. On the nose, there are ripe aromas of white peach, candied lemon, violet, acacia flowers, orange blossom and aromatic herbs. Entry onto the palate is characterised by an initial flavourful, chalky mouthfeel, which gives way to fragrant aromas of citrus peel, yellow-fleshed fruit, the softness of small pastries and Chantilly cream, giving an ample and generous, complex and rich palate, which lengthens towards a harmonious, fresh and remarkably persistent finish. Recommended for pairing with fish dishes: fish soup, seafood risotto, fish tartare. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Charles Heidsieck

Charles Heidsieck is the smallest of the Maisons de Reims. Founded by Charles Camille, grandson of Florens-Louis, son of Charles and Amélie Henriot, back in 1851, when he bought 47 crayères in which to vinify the grapes grown by his cousin Ernest Henriot. Today, the Maison Heidsieck is the benchmark among small, but high value and quality companies. The special feature of the Maison are the large underground chalk quarries that extend over 8 kilometres of galleries, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Millions of bottles are stored inside, with maturation on the lees for up to forty years. The style of Heidsieck Champagne is recognisable and synonymous with harmony and generosity in its aromatic profile. Vinification only in stainless steel until malolactic fermentation is complete, long maturation on the lees and high sugar levels. This awareness confers longevity and elegance to the Maison's Champagnes. Name and address of producer/distributor: Charles Heidsieck -12 Allée du Vignoble, 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
