The regulations governing Brunello, one of the most prestigious red wines not only in Tuscany but also in Italy and the world, are quite strict and require the wine to undergo a very long ageing period: at least two years in oak casks of any size and at least four months in the bottle. Furthermore, it cannot be released for consumption before 1 January of the following year, at the end of a five-year period calculated from the vintage year.
Thus, Frescobaldi’s Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo follows this same lengthy process, and in the glass it reveals all its complexity: not only to the eye, but also on the nose and palate, we can appreciate the long journey this important red wine has undertaken. The colour is intense, a deep ruby red with garnet hues. On the nose, there are notes of raspberries, plums and ripe cherries, spices and toasted aromas. On the palate, it is harmonious, mineral and savoury, with a very elegant tannic structure. It envelops the palate with a lingering finish.
Perfect for accompanying a lovely Sunday lunch featuring a menu of flavourful, full-bodied meat dishes.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
