Production

Poggio al Tesoro’s Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. During red vinification, alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel at a temperature of 28–30°C for 12–15 days. Ageing took place in French oak barriques, 70% new and 30% second-fill.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Poggio al Tesoro’s Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia displays an intense ruby red colour in the glass. On the nose, it releases aromas of ripe forest fruits and hints of balsamic herbs, which blend with notes of damp earth and dark spices. The palate is intense and enveloping, enhanced by velvety tannins and a lingering spicy finish.

Occasion and Pairing

Excellent paired with mature cheeses and game.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Poggio Celsi's winery was born in the southernmost area of the Montalcino DOC zone, a short distance from the Castello dell'Abate area. The strategic location of its total ten hectares, seven of which are planted with vines, is exploited to the fullest for the production of Tuscan wines of the highest quality, which can best tell not only the story of the land, but also of the winery itself. This young and dynamic company has been able to treasure the knowledge of the most experienced winemakers, and has combined it with the latest technology to achieve a final product that is both elegant and complex. Study and commitment have defined the character of the Poggio Celsi winery from the very beginning, resulting in multifaceted products with strong character. Two wines in particular are born from Sangiovese grapes: the Brunello and the Rosso di Montalcino, which increase the popularity of the wineries year by year.
