Production

Tenuta dell’Ornellaia’s Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Ornellaia is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, grown in the estate’s vineyards in Bolgheri. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel and concrete tanks. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barriques, followed by a further period in the bottle to achieve balance, complexity and elegance. 100 ml: E=358 kJ/86 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep, intense ruby red colour. The nose is broad and complex, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, cassis and blackberry, accompanied by hints of sweet spices, tobacco, cocoa and light balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with dense, silky tannins, great structure and a long, harmonious and persistent finish.

Occasion and Pairing

An iconic and highly prestigious wine, ideal for special occasions. It pairs well with fine red meats, braised dishes, game and mature cheeses.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is located a short distance from the village of Bolgheri, Tuscany. Of all the wonderful farms in the region, this is perhaps the only one to stand on land praised by one of the greatest Italian poets of the 20th century: In fact, Giosuè Carducci had written a poem about the monumental cypress avenue that leads right to the Bolgheri area and the gentle contours of the hills dotted with vineyards. The area's enduring charm and privileged terroir location has motivated the work of the winery, which is driven to do more and more to produce Tuscan wines that live up to their provenance. A work marked by passion and love for the land and its unique characteristics, which was accompanied by a meticulous study of the latest technologies and techniques. Selective harvesting done by hand, microvinification and storage ageing lead to a flawless end result, perfect in every detail and rich in character.
