TASTING NOTES

The Cappellano winery is located in a magical terroir, nestled between Barolo and Barbaresco. Over a century and a half of history, the 4 hectares located in Serralunga d'Alba are managed without the use of chemical substances or synthesis, while in the cellar alcoholic fermentations occur spontaneously without the addition of exogenous yeasts and wines do not undergo filtration. The Barolo Otin Fiori Piè Rupestris is an ode to the territory of the Langhe, a Barolo that comes from one of the most renowned Cru of Serralunga d'Alba, or Gabutti. The 100% Nebbiolo grapes come from vines of 60 years, which are harvested manually with careful sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar, are then destemmed and then the must ferments spontaneously through indigenous yeasts. The aging of the wine takes place for 18 months in large cask, without any filtration. Barolo Piè Rupestris is presented to the glass with an intense garnet red color, an austere nose whose initial compactness could be intimidating. The nose is dominated by notes of licorice, rose hips and violet. Its evolution over time widens its aromatic profile with hints of undergrowth and leather. The mouthfeel reveals a very fine tannins, freshness and flavor. Very persistent and long on the finish, it is recommended in combination with meat dishes or mature cheeses. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 14/16 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Cappellano

At the Universal Exhibition in Paris (the same one where the Eiffel Tower was erected to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution), Giovanni Cappellano's wine cellar won a bronze medal. Teobaldo took the helm of the company, changing it completely: much smaller dimensions and maximum attention to quality, according to precise guidelines. On the one hand, an unprecedented focus on the territory, consisting of rootedness and commitment. The Langhe of those years, far from being recognised today. Today, tradition, respect for the environment and a focus far beyond organic make Cappellano wines a bastion of the Langhe. Name and address of producer/distributor: Cappellano dr. Giuseppe SNC Via Alba, 13 12050 Serralunga d'Alba (CN). Products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
