TASTING NOTES

Villa Calicantus is a small organic and biodynamic winery in the heart of Bardolino Classico, managed today by Chiara and Daniele who work 8 hectares of vineyards located on three of the best hills of the Classic Bardolino area. Bardolino LaSuperiora comes from grapes that are entirely cultivated with organic and biodynamic regime, with a particular attention to the lunar cycles in order to better respect every phase that the nature needs in order to develop and to give life to a raw material to the maximum of its potentialities. The vineyards are about 180 meters s.l.m. with an average age of about 9 years. The grapes are harvested manually and then perform spontaneous alcoholic fermentation by indigenous yeasts. It is then aged for one year in wooden barrels and 6 months in bottle. Bardolino Superiore LaSuperiora by Villa Calicantus has a brilliant ruby red color to the glass, the nose reveals aromas of berries, spices, mineral and brackish hints. On the palate the structure is elegant, authentic and flowing with a good persistence on the finish that entices the drink. It goes perfectly with cuts of carni rosse grilled or stewed, salumi and dishes with meat sauces. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC.
