Cantina Terlano’s Lagrein comes from vineyards situated at an altitude of between 250 and 500 metres above sea level on porphyritic soils. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing for approximately 7–10 months in large wooden barrels, which allow the wine to soften the tannins without masking the fruit. Visually, it presents an impenetrable ruby red colour, enhanced by violet hues that hint at its youth and vigour. On the nose, a generous and deep bouquet unfolds, where ripe wild berries such as blackberry and blueberry blend with floral notes of violet and intriguing hints of dark chocolate and liquorice.
On the palate, the wine reveals its full character: it is full-bodied, velvety and harmonious, characterised by noble, well-integrated tannins that guide the palate towards a persistent and pleasantly fresh finish. This bold yet balanced character makes it the ideal dining companion, capable of enhancing intense dishes such as traditional pork shank, game birds or well-aged Alpine cheeses. It is a red that invites conviviality, bringing the austere and captivating elegance of the South Tyrolean peaks to the glass.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18°C.
