In the middle of the Sienese hills, at about 605 meters above sea level, in the areas between Valdichiana and Val d’Orcia, lie the 58 hectares of vineyards of the Salcheto winery. Established in 1984, the actual production of wines began in 1990. Immediately an expression of innovation in viticulture and vinification, over the years it has stood out due its commitment to sustainability and respect for the land and local biodiversity. In fact, to date, it has received numerous awards and recognitions that recognise it as a model organic and biodynamic farm. The predominant production is of Sangiovese grapes, typical of the areas near Montepulciano, where Salcheto is located. With careful, hand-harvesting practices and the exclusion of sulphites and local yeasts, the winery provides absolute excellence in red wines, such as Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and its Riserva, Obvius Rosso and Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, white wines, such as Obvius Bianco and rosés, with Obvius Rosato. Finally, the winery has acquired another 11 hectares of land in the Chiusi hills over the years. The Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG is also produced here, thanks to tuff-rich, well-drained and aerated soils.
