Francois Diligent

Born in Buxeuil in 1904, François Diligent comes from a family of winemakers and together with his father he began to work very early, rapidly developing his love for Champagne and the care of the vineyards. In 1927 he took over 4 hectares of vineyard, calling it his "garden", without increasing this area that he considered as the laboratory of the vigneron continuing to experiment. Each of the vines, still today, is manually harvested and pressed separately, following fermentation with indigenous yeasts, malolactic fermentation blocked, vinification and aging in used wooden barrels and the use of very low sugar dosages. Beyond his vision, François loved precision: every phase of his Champagne is studied in detail. Before his death in 1974, he wished to bequeath his know-how, his vineyards and his winery to a family that would continue his philosophy. The maintenance of traditional techniques has allowed to guarantee a high quality of production, knowing that the vineyard has very old quality vines.
