TASTING NOTES

The Ferghettina winery was founded in 1990 when Roberto Gatti and his wife Andreina took over 4 hectares of land in the municipality of Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, in Lombardy, one of Italy's most famous areas for sparkling wine due to the quality of its bubbles. In 1992, he produced his Franciacorta and after a short time, the company expanded and today Ferghettina manages 200 hectares of vineyards using organic farming methods, spread over 11 communes in Franciacorta. Ferghettina has been continuously growing for 20 years and there is no doubt that today it is one of the most important institutions in Franciacorta. Ferghettina is above all a family matter, everything is managed by Roberto and Andreina, with the important help of their two children Laura and Matteo, both oenologists. It is from a careful selection of the best chardonnay grapes from different plots that Milledì was born, which has a particularity that immediately stands out to us: the 'square' bottle. Studied and patented by Robero's son Matteo, the sparkling wine maturing on the lees has a larger contact surface area in the square bottle than in a round bottle, which enriches the wine with aromatic components. The colour of this sparkling wine is a beautiful straw yellow tinged with greenish reflections, and the 36 months spent on the lees give it an elegant, fine and persistent perlage. Beautiful citrus notes and hints of white-fleshed fruit mix with hints of bread crust. A beautiful mineral note on the nose and palate, freshness and full flavour, finesse and length of taste. Perfect for a refined aperitif based on langoustines and raw prawns, or cuttlefish and oysters. If you prefer first courses, why not combine it with a fish risotto? Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Ferghettina

The Ferghettina winery was founded in Lombardy in 1991 from the work of Roberto Gatti and his family, driven by love for the hills of Franciacorta. The cornerstone for the production of this designation and beyond, the Ferghettina wines, with their deep and fine character and their fragrances, are synonymous with safety and quality. Roberto began his production in 1990, thanks to his knowledge on viticulture and the most modern winemaking techniques. His work initially took place on 4 hectares of land in Ebrusco. The first two wines that launch it onto the market come from here: the red Terre di Franciacorta and a White wine. It was from the following year that the story of what is now the Ferghettina’s key product began: Franciacorta Brut. Over the years, the estate has expanded. From those initial 4 hectares, he now manages around 200. They occupy territories that extend over 11 municipalities of Franciacorta, located between Lake Sebino and the Alps. The variety of land used for vines and a organic cultivation regime, together with the extreme care given to the processing thanks to manual work, guarantee that intrinsic quality and that unmistakable style that characterize the wines of the Ferghettina estate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Ferghettina - via Saline, 11, 25030 Adro BS. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
