TASTING NOTES

The Pecchenino farm was established towards the end of the 18th century and has been family-run ever since, with the land being handed down from father to son. Today it boasts an area of about 32 hectares, 26 of them located in the Municipality of Dogliani and three in the Municipality of Monforte d'Alba. Dogliani is the traditional cultivation area of the Dolcetto variety, which is mentioned as early as 1432 in a manuscript found in the municipal archives. 70% of the estate is planted with Dolcetto and the rest with Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vines. The company also has land in the Municipality of Monforte d'Alba, one of the most suitable areas for the production of Barolo wine. The average annual production is 100,000 75cl bottles. Dogliani Superiore Siri d’Jermu is a Piedmontese red wine from Dolcetto, the vines of which come from the cru of the same name, at an altitude of 390 to 430 metres above sea level, on primarily calcareous soil. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and the wine is aged for 12 months in large oak barrels. In the glass, it is a wonderful intense ruby red. The nose is rich in hints of blackberry, plum and cherry and then gently turns towards interesting tertiaries of black pepper and liquorice. In the mouth it is rich and full-bodied, with smooth and very pleasant tannins and a good length. A perfect everyday wine, we recommend pairing it with cured meats or meat first courses. THE WINERY

Pecchenino

The history of the Pecchenino farm is long and fascinating. Its foundation dates back to the end of the 18th century and, since then, its sole objective has been to create high-quality Piedmontese wines that could enhance all the natural characteristics of the land and its precious minerals. A history laden with secrets and knowledge handed down from generation to generation and which, over time, has managed to keep wine production of the Monforte d'Alba area alive. The oldest techniques have gradually been combined with the most modern ones, thanks also to patient care and research, to offer a final product that represents Piedmontese excellence. The main crop is Dolcetto and, to a lesser extent, Barbera and Nebbiolo. A unique and careful workmanship for a product that tells of the care and love that the company has for its work and for the land, which you can find in every glass. Name and address of producer/distributor: Pecchenino - Borgata Valdiberti, 59, 12063 Dogliani (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
