The history of the Banfi winery is long and interesting. It began in 1978, when Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani decided to start a large-scale project in the heart of Montalcino, integrating quality wine production with a state-of-the-art wine cellar. Their approach was completely new at the time, and led to the creation of one of Italy's most famous wineries. The goal was always the same: keep the quality of the wines produced high. Also supporting the Mariani family was Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's greatest wine-makers, who immediately saw the potential of the winery. He believed that, due to the natural richness of the soil and the privileged microclimatic position, production could excel in the Tuscan panorama of the time. His intuition turned out to be correct and for years, Castello Banfi has been a unique model, capable of telling the world about Tuscan wines. The estate extends on the border of the Val d'Orcia for almost three thousand hectares, where Montalcino wines are created in their most modern version. The cellar was designed to preserve the integrity and richness of the grapes as much as possible, and makes use of the most advanced technologies resulting from revolutionary technical experiments. It is here, among more than 7,000 barriques, that wines of great charm and elegance are created. Name and address of producer/distributor: Banfi - Castello di Poggio alle Mura snc - 53024 Montalcino SI. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
