TASTING NOTES

Zaccagnini is an Abruzzo-based company that has offered excellent quality wines since the 1970s and currently owns 300 hectares of land producing of 3 million bottles. It is located in Bolognano, in the province of Pescara, near the Majella national park, in one of the most suitable areas of the Abruzzo region. The Zaccagnini winery was founded in 1978 by Marcello Zaccagnini. Over the years it has never stopped developing and acquiring new owned vineyards. The process is controlled at all stages ensuring total quality from grape to glass, which has become the family motto. Sold internationally, its wines are among the most loved in the United States and the best-sellers in Italy. Thanks to its vast series of vineyards, the winery does a great job of selecting the grapes, studying the best soils to grow certain varieties, and ultimately producing superb bottles of wine. The most cultivated variety is Montepulciano, but Zaccagnini also grows Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Passerina and Pecorino or whites, as well as Cabernet Franc and Cannonau for reds. The Tralcetto line is original in that each bottle leaves the cellar with a sprig of vine tied by hand around the neck to represent the artisan roots of the company. The Tralcetto “Bianco di Ciccio” is a blend of 85% Trebbiano and 15% Chardonnay. Vacuum pressing and extraction of the flower must alone with temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Pale straw yellow. Delicate scent of citrus and fresh fruits on the nose, with floral notes. Good freshness in the mouth, immediate drinkability thanks to the delicate aromatic profile. An Abruzzo white to be drunk young, every day, paired with fish and shellfish dishes. Fried fish, seafood risotto and pasta dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Zaccagnini

In the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, near the town of Bolognano, stands the Zaccagnini winery, founded in 1978 as a family business and grown immensely until today. Their goal and motto has always been “total quality, from the bunch to the glass”, and this philosophy can be detected on the palate . Now internationally known, the winery has 300 hectares of vines. Despite its size, however, every single stage of production, from the cultivation of the grapes through to processing and sale, is controlled with care and passion down to the smallest detail. In addition, the breadth of the area covered offers a great variety of soils and microclimates, which allow for a careful selection of grapes, all indigenous, which are then destined for the different types of wines. There are many varieties of products processed and sold here. Those made from Pecorino and Passerina grapes dominate the white wines scene, followed by Chardonnay and Trebbiano Abruzzese. As for reds, the main one is naturally Montepulciano, followed by Cannonau and Cabernet Franc. Name and address of producer/distributor: Zaccagnini - Contrada Pozzo, 4, 65020 Bolognano (PE). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
