TASTING NOTES

Deltetto has been a family of winemakers since the end of the 19th century and since 2017 has been engaged in certified organic viticulture. The company's production takes place between the Roero and Langhe areas, different geological origins around Piedmont, the morphological compositions of which are reflected in the characteristics of the wines produced. The Roero has an alluvial soil characterised by sandstone, rocks made up of sand and limestone. This soft and mineral-rich soil is perfect for whites and reds, and provides perfumed, complex but at the same time very elegant wines. The Langhe, of more ancient origins, is instead characterized by a more compact soil composed of clay and marl. It is well suited, especially in the Barolo area, to producing well-structured red wines. 'I Lioni' is the name by which the Deltetto family was traditionally known and after which the small hamlet is named where the first bottles of Nebbiolo were produced in the old family farmstead. This wine is produced from pure Nebbiolo from the Langhe, harvested from the best plots on the estate. It ages for about 12 months in oak barrels and is then further refined in the bottle. It is pale ruby red, but the bouquet is frank and sincere, with delicate notes of violets, currants and light spices. The palate is fresh, elegant, with a slight lively tannin and good persistence. Perfect when paired with pasta, mature cheeses and meat dishes; it's also interesting when paired with tartare, especially Fassona. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Deltetto

Established in 1953 in the historic and prestigious wine-producing areas of Piedmont, in the heart of the Roero area, the Deltetto farm has always been involved in the production of prestigious and renowned wines, according to traditional Piedmontese wine-producing techniques. Founded by Carlo Deltetto, the company is now headed by his son Antonio. 21 hectares of vineyards where, following a company philosophy dedicated to safeguarding the surrounding ecosystem, the large and delicate Piedmontese red wines are produced, such as the traditional Langhe D.O.C. Nebbiolo, obtained from native vine varieties. Created from a great passion for the area and the vineyards, the wines of the area are the maximum expression of the land from which they are created, from the elegant white wines including the renowned Barolo D.O.C.G, to classic sparkling wines such as the typical Pinot Noir. Over the years, the Deltetto company has managed to combine the traditions of Piedmontese production with the distinctiveness offered by the land, achieving excellent results.
