Hofstatter is a historic Alto Adige winery, which operates using techniques that combine tradition with an ongoing quest for innovation. Given the exceptional quality of the wines it produces, this aim is easily achieved every year and gives a voice to this terroir’s authentic personality. The winery is headed up by Martin Foradori, heir to an ancient family of winemakers, who, thanks to careful and environmentally-friendly growing methods, creates red and white wines of enormous expressive power, offering balance and elegance. Pinot Nero Riserva Mazon is produced using the grapes cultivated on vineyards located on the Mazon plateau of the same name, which offers soil rich in clay, limestone and porphyry, a gentle breeze from Lake Garda, many hours of sunshine and distinct temperature ranges, making it one of the most suitable terroirs in Alto Adige for Pinot Noir. Riserva Mazon is an undisputedly elegant, full-bodied and deep wine, with a good balance between refinement and structure. The extended ageing period, first in small barrels for 12 months, then in large oak casks for 6 months and finally in the bottle, gives this wine a velvety smoothness and complexity. In the glass it has a beautiful ruby colour with garnet reflections, almost impenetrable. This wine delivers a great richness of aromas, from recollections of small berry fruits to spices, with the characteristic nuance of undergrowth. The soft, full-bodied palate is extremely elegant and fine, with good balance and long persistence. Ample and velvety, good concentration and highly refined. Perfect with red meat and game, as well as with cured meats and aged cheeses.
