The wines produced by St. Paul’s wineries express the terroir from which they come; terroir is a concept that combines a wide range of factors such as climate, soil, exposure and various processes. St Pauls is one of the best wine-growing areas in Alto Adige; thanks to its slopes and hillsides, it offers grapes the perfect conditions for ripening. Pinot Nero Luzia is a monovarietal wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on very deep limestone-gravelly soils located on the San Paolo plateau at an elevation of about 350-500 metres above sea level. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery where they are crushed. The wine then undergoes initial fermentation in stainless steel and then part ageing in large oak barrels and in barriques where it remains for several months. It is ruby red in colour with garnet reflections; ample and fruity on the nose, with hints of small forest fruits, cherries, plums, floral notes such as violets and spicy notes such as clove. Elegant, fine and intense on the palate, with velvety tannins. Perfect for everyday drinking or paired with red meats.
