TASTING NOTES

The Verona Secco Bertani Vintage Edition is the tribute that the winery pays to its history and its roots. It is in fact the faithful replica of the first wine produced in the Thirties, interpreted and produced with modern techniques. It is made from the historic blend of Bertani: Corvina, Sangiovese Grosso, Syrah and Cabernet-Sauvignon. The grapes come from the vineyards located on the hills surrounding the historic site of Grezzana with soils of predominantly Marno-limestone rich in iron. After being selected and harvested, the grapes are vinified with a long maceration on the skins and finally the wine is aged in the traditional Veronese cask of 750 liters of chestnut and cherry for about 18 months. It is an intense and concentrated ruby red. On the nose the main notes are those of small red and black berries with more balsamic and spicy nuances donated by international vines. The taste is of excellent body, warm and soft with an elegant tannin that keeps it easy to drink. This red Veneto is perfect for every occasion, suitable for everyday use especially when paired with red meat. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 14/16 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Bertani

Renowned for the production of excellent Veneto wines, the Bertani estate is located in Quinto di Valpantena, near Verona. The founders, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, combined enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit to produce fine, bold wines, thanks also to the French techniques of Professor Guyot, as learnt by Gaetano. With its two cellars and vineyards in the Valpantena Classica area and its estates in the Soave and Lake Garda areas, Bertani was one of the first Italian companies to promote the bottling of wine, with investments and advanced viticultural and winemaking production techniques. All while respecting the terroir and local culture. The recognition of excellence dates back to 1923, with the approval of the royal family. The more than 200 hectares of vineyards include the two historic Grezzana wine cellars, for vinification and bottling, and Tenuta Novare, near Arbizzano di Negrar. From these estates come two of Veneto's most sought-after red wines, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Amarone, icons of the area. But production does not stop there: renowned white wines such as Soave also come from the Bertani estate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Bertani - Via Asiago, 1 - 37023 Grezzana VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
