TASTING NOTES

The Vosca company is located near Cormons, in the hamlet of Brazzano, in the province of Gorizia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. We are in the heart of the Collio area, one of the best in Italy and in the world for the production of white wines. Unlike the Colli Orientali further north, the Collio enjoys lower hills, protected from the cold currents by Monte Quarin and constantly bathed in sunshine. These soil and climatic conditions result in wines with more body, ample aromatic profile and higher alcohol content but they are balanced by good minerality. The vineyards extend for 10 hectares where the native Malvasia, Friulano and Ribolla Gialla grapes are grown as well as other international ones such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vines are grown with the area’s traditional system called “cappuccina”, to ensure consistently high quality standards. Vosca Cabernet Franc IGT Venezia Giulia is a dry red wine. The grapes grow on the hills and are harvested by hand in early October. In the wine cellar the must is fermented in vitrified cement tanks and left to age on the fine lees for 12 months in second- and third-passage large wooden barrels before bottling. Ruby red in colour with violet reflections. On the nose a bouquet of fresh red fruit and blueberries with herbaceous notes and black pepper. In the mouth, it is fresh, with good acidity and minerality with a medium and harmonious body. Vosca Vini

A family business dedicated to maintaining and respecting the traditions of the areas in which it is located, the Vosca Vini winery, between the Collio Goriziano and the flat areas of the Isonzo, is a wonderful example of a company that offers fine products by exalting the characteristics of its territory and its fruits. Located near Brazzano, in the easternmost Friuli, it covers about 10 hectares of vineyard land. Among the vines in the hilly areas, many are predominantly dedicated to Malvasia. Moreover, in general, all vineyards present problematic positions for mechanisation of work. This is due to the fact that most of the work and processes are done manually, according to more traditional methods. As a result of all the work and care that goes into each stage of the production process, products of absolute quality are obtained. These include exceptional white wines, such as Chardonnay DOC Isonzo, Ribolla Gialla DOC Collio, Pinot Grigio DOC Friuli Isonzo and Friulano DOC Collio.
