TASTING NOTES

Santa Sofia's Valpolicella Classico is made from the vinification of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. After the harvest, the grapes are pressed and macerate in stainless steel for about 10 days. It is bright ruby red in colour. On the nose it has a decisive and broad bouquet reminiscent of prunes and cherries under spirits with hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is full with silky, velvety tannins and well-balanced acidity, and closes long and clean. Santa Sofia

In Pedemonte, in the heart of the Veneto region and in one of the best-known areas for the production of quality wines, stands the Santa Sofia winery, inside an ancient aristocratic villa designed and built by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio. Since the 1960s, the winery has been in the hands of the Begnoni family, which has also owned it since then. With its 53 hectares of mainly stony land, the winery, under the leadership of the family, has always had the goal of expanding its distribution both nationally and internationally. Initially intending to offer all typical Veronese productions, the company has focused on specific products and selected crops over time, the products of which are harvested in the vineyard with extreme care at every single step. Today Santa Sofia produces and distributes very structured and elegant red wines, including Valpolicella Superiore Montegradella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Bardolino, Amarone, Arlèo, Merlot Corvina and Predaia.
