TASTING NOTES

Ca' dei Frati is one of the most established companies in the production of Lugana DOC, the famous white wine from Lake Garda. Historical documents testify to its activity as far back as the end of the eighteenth century, but it was in the 1940s that the company took shape thanks to the Dal Cero family. In 1969, Pietro dal Cero bottled the first wine with the Lugana DOC label, which would lead the company to become a reference point in the area over the years. While Lugana DOC is without a doubt the backbone of the Lake Garda wine industry, there’s no shortage of exceptions. Ronchedone, for example, is a red wine produced from Marzemino and Sangiovese grapes with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon to finish it off. The wines, fermented in stainless steel, are aged in barrels for a full 14 months. They then spend another 10 months in the bottle before being placed onto the market. Ronchedone is a potent, captivating wine. It has aromas of concentrated blueberry and plum, cherry jam, and spicy balsamic notes. On the palate, it is consistent and vibrant. Red meats? All of them, not a problem! But it’s also perfect for pairing with a homemade ragù. Read more Read less
LA CANTINA

Ca' dei Frati

Cantina Ca' dei Frati is one of the main wine landmarks in the Lake Garda area, an estate that has been producing excellent quality wines since 1939. It was born from the passion of the Dal Cero family, which was able to combine skill and love for the terroir. The Lugana area of Sirmione, where countless rows of vines belonging to Ca' dei Frati now thrive, was once known as the place of monks, as it belonged to the bishop's curia. Since the first Lugana, the company has succeeded in creating truly unique bottles: from a fine white wine with great elegance to the sparkling version. Ca' dei Frati wines, an exceptional example of Lombardy wines, are the result of meticulous study of the land and vines, the secrets of which have been handed down for four generations. Safeguarding the raw material is the main aim of the entire production process, refined from year to year through innovative and up-to-date techniques, skilfully balanced with decades-long tradition. Name and address of producer/distributor: Ca' dei Frati - Via Frati, 22, 25019 Lugana di Sirmione (BS). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
