TASTING NOTES

The history of Tasca d’Almerita in Sicily is inscribed in the land that it has been caring for and handed down for eight generations. The whole range of wines produced by Tasca d'Almerita always guarantees the highest quality, combining refinement, reflection of the terroir, and a typically Sicilian expression. This Rosso del Conte is a Sicilian red wine obtained from Nero d’Avola (52%) and Perricone (48%) grapes from head-trained vines. Once the grapes have been harvested, they are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for around 20 days. This wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation. Ageing takes place in 225-litre barrels of French oak (Allier and Tronçais), 100% new, for 18 months. The colour of this wine is a bright ruby red, and on the nose hints of red berry fruits, blackberries, red flowers such as the rose, spices, liquorice, and coffee contribute to a broad and penetrating bouquet. It is extremely elegant on the palate: harmonious, smooth, and with immense freshness which simply invites the drinker to take another sip. It has a long finish with notes of pomegranate. This wine is perfect for Sunday lunch and for pairing with any dish based on red meats. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Tasca d'Almerita

The history of the Tasca d'Almerita winery has its roots in the 19th century, when brothers Lucio and Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca purchased 1,200 hectares in the Regaleali district in Sicily. Even then, techniques considered cutting-edge not only in the Sicilian wine scene but throughout Italy were being used. The immense winemaking heritage, handed down for eight generations, is now under the leadership of Alberto and Giuseppe Tasca, who carry on the winery always respecting tradition but with an eye to the future. Each of the five estates belonging to the Tasca d'Almerita estate is managed with extreme care and rigor, thanks to the support of a conspicuous team of collaborators. What makes Tasca d'Almerita's wines so special is the vast spread of its vineyards between the island of Salina, land of Mavasia, across to the slopes of Mount Etna. These are some of the most beautiful places in Sicily, and also the most dedicated to wine production. Terroirs with different characteristics ensure that each of the different labels of red and white have distinctive notes, which are recognised and appreciated worldwide. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tasca d'Almerita - Via dei Fiori, 13, 90129 Palermo (PA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
