TASTING NOTES

Maison Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ, managed by William Deutz and Pierre Geldermann. A winery with history, a cuvée of elegance and tradition. Deutz’s Champagne Brut Classic is the winery’s most representative label, with a great balance and fine, velvety perlage. In its simplicity and pleasantness, it embodies the characteristics of the terroir perfectly, expressing the true essence of Champagne. It is produced from three distinctive grape varieties of the Champagne area: 34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Meunier. This Cuvée represents the freshness of the Chardonnay combined with the fruity aromas of the Pinot Noir and the structure of the Meunier, whose grapes are selected from the different estate crus owned in Aÿ. The must ferments in stainless steel, followed by malolactic fermentation for greater protein stability. A 36 month maturation on the lees in the bottle completes the production process, ensuring a complete and mature aromatic expression. In the glass it has a beautiful intense golden colour, enhanced by abundant perlage. Soft, mineral aromas on the nose with fruity and floral notes and small hints of pastries and breads. The palate opens with a vibrant freshness and roundness, pleasant and crisp. Ideal for sharing on special occasions, or paired with delicate fish dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Deutz

Founded by William Deutz and Pierre Geldermann, Maison Deutz was established in 1838 in Aÿ, in the Champagne region. Coming from Aquisgarana, the two settled in Aÿ and opened a small wine store. In 1838, they bought a small plot of land and started producing native varieties, with the desire to continue this production activity. William Deutz, who had previously worked for the Maison Bollinger, used his expertise in the cultivation and vinification of grapes. While Pierre Geldermann looked after the commercial and financial side of the house. In the following years, Maison Deutz was forced to cede a percentage of ownership of the wine cellar to Louis Roederer, but over time, Champagne Deutz established itself on the French wine scene, expanding more and more through the acquisition of new crus in the Cote de Blancs region as well. Over the years, the winery has been completely renovated and modernised: the musts ferment in stainless steel tanks and the parcel from which the grapes originate are transcribed in each one. The cuvée then rests in the house's underground cellars, located 60 metres below ground level. Producer/distributor name and address: Champagne Deutz - 16 Rue Jeanson, 51160 Aÿ-Champagne - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
