TASTING NOTES

Less than 7 kilometres from the Tuscan coast lie 1000 hectares of the Guado al Tasso estate. The Guado al Tasso vineyards are mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino Nero and Bianco grapes. The vineyards’ proximity to the sea means the grapes are grown in a mild climate: the constant sea breeze mitigates summer heat and harsh winters, providing fresh air and ensuring a high level of sun exposure. Scalabrone, perhaps Tuscany's best-known rosé wine, is named after the outlaw of the same name who lived in the bourgeois area in the early 19th century. An international, Bolgheri-style rosé made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The three varieties are harvested and verified separately. Verification and ageing take place in stainless steel, followed by maceration for a few hours at a lower temperature to extract the wine's typical aromas. In the glass it is a brilliant peony pink colour. On the nose, it delivers fresh fruit, supported by flowers and punchy balsamic notes. Fruit dominates the palate with excellent freshness and persistence. A wine to drink every day, not only in summer, pairing it nicely with white meat and vegetable dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Guado al Tasso

Belonging to the historic and renowned Marchesi Antinori wine family, the Guado al Tasso winery enjoys an excellent international reputation despite only being established in 1994. Situated in the Upper Maremma Tuscany, in the area of Bolgheri, it covers about 320 hectares, set in the beautiful setting of the so-called “Bolgherese amphitheatre”, a plain surrounded by wooded hills stretching down to the sea. It is the particularity of this setting that provides a unique microclimate to the vineyards cultivated here. The usual temperature fluctuations to which they are exposed guarantee that the grapes have a strong aromatic flavour and perfect maturation. In fact, compared to the other Antinori estates, such as the majestic Castello della Sala, at the Guado al Tasso winery the harvest is usually carried out at the end of August, rather than in September. Soils of heterogeneous composition, composed of clay, sand, silt or pebbles, are home to both French red grapes from which prestigious red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, are produced, and to vines from which remarkable white wines and roses are produced. Name and address of producer/distributor: Guado al Tasso - Loc. Scalabrone 57022 Bolgheri LI. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
