TASTING NOTES

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Bertani is composed of a historic blend of Corvina Veronese and Rondinella, from grapes resting on an iron-rich Marno-calcareous soil. After being selected and harvested, the grapes are placed in traditional fruit without any pressure in terms of temperature and humidity control. They are then placed to rest on the arèle for 120 days, followed by crushing and vinification. Aging takes place in medium-large Slavonian oak barrels for 7 years. It then follows a refinement in the bottle for 1 year. Wine of great personality and elegance, it is presented to the glass intense red with garnet nuances. On the nose stand out the typical notes of plum, cherry and cherry followed by tea leaf, licorice and spices that emerge thanks to aging. On the palate hints of red berries, sweetened by soft spicy notes, in perfect balance with acidity and tannins. To fully appreciate the style, this Amarone should be served at a service temperature of 14/16 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Bertani

Renowned for the production of excellent Veneto wines, the Bertani estate is located in Quinto di Valpantena, near Verona. The founders, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, combined enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit to produce fine, bold wines, thanks also to the French techniques of Professor Guyot, as learnt by Gaetano. With its two cellars and vineyards in the Valpantena Classica area and its estates in the Soave and Lake Garda areas, Bertani was one of the first Italian companies to promote the bottling of wine, with investments and advanced viticultural and winemaking production techniques. All while respecting the terroir and local culture. The recognition of excellence dates back to 1923, with the approval of the royal family. The more than 200 hectares of vineyards include the two historic Grezzana wine cellars, for vinification and bottling, and Tenuta Novare, near Arbizzano di Negrar. From these estates come two of Veneto's most sought-after red wines, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Amarone, icons of the area. But production does not stop there: renowned white wines such as Soave also come from the Bertani estate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Bertani - Via Asiago, 1 - 37023 Grezzana VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
