TASTING NOTES

Cantina Bolzano was created in 2001 in the heart of Trentino Alto Adige, one of the most established regions on the national wine scene. A cooperation between Gries and Santa Magdalena wineries. Strengthened by the cooperation of 224 wine-growing members and very high production standards (a focal point not only of Kellerei Bozen but of all of Alto Adige), this winery is now seen as a top player in the wine industry. Kellerei Bozen's Sud Tirol - Alto Adige DOC Pinot Nero Riserva is made from grapes grown on a selection of particularly well-suited vineyards in the Renon area at 600 metres above sea level. The temperature ranges on these high hill-side vineyards where this wine is produced ensure excellent and consistent results. The musts are fermented in wooden barrels at temperatures that are never too high to extract the full aromatic potential and the right colouring from the grapes. Pinot Nero Riserva ages in barriques for a short period of 6 months, functional to the wine and variety and without being overpowering. Deep ruby colour, it reveals notes of cherry, raspberry and currants on the nose. The finish continues with hints of clove and tobacco. This wine is full in the mouth, with an agile yet firm structure, and a flavour consistent with the nose. Soft with a long finish. Serve with main courses of meat, game or on medium-aged cheeses. THE WINERY

Cantina di Bolzano

Bronze-coloured aluminium walls stand out among the surrounding vineyards, decorated with branches resembling stylised vine leaves. This is the new symbol of Bolzano's winegrowing tradition: the Cantina Bolzano - Kellerei Bozen. The design of the building symbolises the quality and excellence of Alto Adige wines, the first CasaClima Wine®-certified wine cellar. It is here that the winegrowers dedicate themselves to making the wines of Kellerei Bozen unique, combining new knowledge and ancient traditions. Characterised by constant dedication, care before and after harvest and maturation of the wine in the cellars, under the watchful eye of experienced winegrowers, Cantina Bolzano offers an inimitable selection of fine wines. The diversity of the Alto Adige wine region, which is expressed in the nature and wines of the region, offers favourable conditions for the cultivation of varied, quality wines, from the white Gewürztraminer to Alto Adige red wines such as Pinot Noir. Today, 224 winegrowing members work there, united by passion, variety and the tradition of their land.
