It was in 1974 that Enrico Teruzzi, an engineer by trade and winegrower by passion, founded the winery together with his wife on the outskirts of San Gimignano. The idea was to spread passion through wine which is considered the strongest instrument of conviviality. Today, the Teruzzi company owns 180 hectares, 96 of which are vineyards, 62 of which are dedicated to Vernaccia alone. Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a classic, historic wine that has occupied the tables of noblemen, kings and queens for centuries. It was the first Italian wine to obtain DOC status in 1966 and is still a white wine with an important character. Vernaccia di San Gimignano Sant'Elena is produced from grapes grown in the 3 hectares of the Sant'Elena vineyard in the Racciano locality, located at an altitude of 350 metres. Vinification is carried out exclusively in stainless steel, while ageing takes place for about 18 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. Intense straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose it is intense, complex, with a broad and varied aromatic profile. Notes of white flowers and citrus fruits mix well with mineral, flint notes. The flavour is enveloping, with good intensity, warmth and great length. Try it as a pairing with dishes based on white meats and first courses that are not too complex.
