The Allegrini family has been involved in wine production for over four hundred years, on an area covering 240 hectares, between Tuscany and Veneto, playing a significant role in the development of Valpolicella and contributing to making it a privileged cradle of great reds. They are wines that are true to their roots but have a modern, eclectic and elegant appeal. Soft flavours for everyday enjoyment: excellent combination of quality, price and service. Ripasso della Valpolicella La Groletta is produced from Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grown in a hilly area on mostly calcareous soils. Harvest takes place in the first week of October with first fermentation at a controlled temperature, while the second fermentation on the skins takes place in February. Four months in stainless steel are followed by 11 months of ageing in oak barrels and a further 2 months in the bottle. Ruby reflections in this ripasso wine are combined with ripe red fruit, light notes of jam made with currants and sweet spices on the nose, closing with a finish of medicinal herbs. It goes well with stews, polenta with braised meat, medium-aged cheeses, tagliata and porcini mushroom based dishes.
