The Passopisciaro winery is one of the youngest producers on the Sicilian wine scene and a point of reference for wine production in the area. Franchetti is made from Petit Verdot and Cesanese d’Affile grapes which grow on volcanic rock and ash. Franchetti is a wine that perfectly expresses and embodies the producer’s idea of wine and personal vision. The grapes are carefully selected and undergo vinification in stainless steel with malolactic fermentation and ageing in new French oak barriques. The style of Andrea Franchetti is evident in all of his wines and vintages. Year after year, he produces wines of incredible richness, depth, and complexity: hallmarks of his production. In the glass, this wine is dense and dark yet lively and luxurious. Its aromas are characterised by fruit notes followed by spices, leather, and flint. In the mouth, its structure is complex and generous with a really long finish. It goes well with meat-based dishes such as beef with black truffle.
