TASTING NOTES

Soave is one of the best-known Italian whites in the world, and this fame is largely due to the efforts and sacrifices of the Pieropan family. The winery was founded back in 1880 by Leonildo Pieropan. It is now managed by his grandson, also called Leonildo, helped by the untiring Teresita. The current Leonildo has always believed strongly in the land, even in the most difficult of times, and has indeed succeeded in making the company’s wines among the most popular and famous of the designation. Location, tradition, and quality are the three key words of their philosophy. With vineyards transitioning to organic farming, the most renowned of which being Calvarino and La Rocca, they now produce more than 500,000 bottles with an unmistakable character, where the mineral notes of the volcanic soil stand out and enrich the fruit notes of the Garganega, a native variety of the area. Soave Classico Pieropan is a Venetian white wine produced from Garganega (85%) and Trebbiano di Soave grapes (15%) cultivated in volcanic soils at an altitude of between 100 and 300 metres. The harvest takes place in stages to ensure the best possible ripening of the two varieties of grape. This is followed by vinification and ageing on the fine lees in vitrified cement tanks. In the glass, this wine is a light straw yellow, and on the nose, notes of elderflower and other small flowers emerge. The bouquet is enriched with delicate mineral and fruit notes. In the mouth it is dry and full-flavoured with an easy drinkability. A perfect everyday wine, we recommend pairing it with fish or shellfish. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Pieropan

The history of the Pieropan winery is long and very interesting: it has been going on for more than a century in the name of quality viticulture and love for the Veneto region. The company is located, specifically, in the heart of the medieval town of Soave. Here, in the historic Palazzo Pullici, four generations of the Pieropan family have handed down the family secrets for growing and the production of grapes and excellent Veneto wines that represent the best of the territory and its history. A great knowledge of the soil and raw materials was combined with a great passion and in-depth study of the subject matter, always keeping up to date. A strong entrepreneurial spirit has done the rest, and thanks to all these elements the company has succeeded in the delicate task of representing one of the most interesting realities of the Veneto region without ever losing its traditional imprint, while always keeping up with the times. Growing of grapes, pressing, vinification and bottling all take place on site, resulting in a final product that has followed each step meticulously and is ready to surprise you. Name and address of producer/distributor: Pieropan - Via Giulio Camuzzoni, 3, 37038 Soave (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
