TASTING NOTES

Dal nome di un fiore spontaneo dal viola acceso che cresce spontaneamente tra i filari dei vigneti, prende spunto il Nero d’avola della cantina Planeta. Ci troviamo a Menfi, nella costa est della Sicilia tra il lago Arancio, tra i suoli profondi e ricchi di ciottoli e un altitudine che arriva fino a 400 metri sopra il livello del mare, che si estende la DOC Menfi, che comprende quei vini che vengono prodotti nell’ area compresa tra i 16 km nell’entroterra di Sciacca nella Tenuta Ulmo, luogo storico e da poco ristrutturato come cantina dalla famiglia Planeta. Si tratta di un vero e proprio cru di Nero d’avola, coltivato tra le viti più vecchie e vinificato in purezza .Dopo la vendemmia il Nero d’Avola arriva in cantina, fermenta in vasche di acciaio e vi rimane ,con le bucce in macerazione per due settimane ad una temperatura costante di 25 gradi : dopo una pigiatura soffice , svolge la malolattica, sempre in tini di acciao. Da gennaio sosterà in legno grande fino agli 8 mesi successivi. In Nero d’ Avola Plumbago è un vino espressivo , di carattere: il colore è un viola acceso, invitante. More selvatiche, prugne incenso, sono i profumi che escono dal calice, che al sorso diventano più nitidi e si aprono in ricordi di cioccolato fondente e torta sacher e circondano la morbidezza di un tannino rotondo.Un rosso di carattere perfetto con carni rosse alla brace o affumicate, ideale per accompagnare una grigliata in compagnia. Feudo di Mezzo stands out against Etna, in Castiglione di Sicilia, while the work of La Baronia remains in the Capo Milazzo area. A very diverse production, therefore, capable of creating multi-faceted wines. The total area of vineyards exceeds three hundred hectares, all of which are raised with the utmost care and with full respect for the differences of individual territories. This is a long and thorough work, requiring precision and great knowledge of the raw material and soil characteristics.
