Maremma Toscana Lodai Igt Toscana is a dry red wine, produced by Tenuta Fertuna. Tenuta Fertuna, founded in 1997, is located in the heart of Maremma Toscana, in southern Tuscany. The influence of the sea breezes coming from the nearby coasts, the soils particularly rich in clay and limestone, the Mediterranean climate, make this land dotted with hills incredibly suitable for viticulture. The characteristic name attributed to this winery refers to the fertility of the earth and the good fortune of the men who cultivate it. Centuries ago the Etruscans had chosen Tuscany as the place to create their flourishing civilization, dedicating themselves to agriculture. In this winemaking company, Tenuta Fertuna has decided to cultivate mainly international vines, taking as models the great red wines with a Bordeaux blend. Thus Maremma Toscana Lodai was created, a wine produced from a single variety, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Also in the case of this wine the name has a precise origin: when the first vintage produced with these grapes was tasted, the exclamation "Laudemus!", or "let's praise" in Latin, arose spontaneously, precisely to underline the success of this wine and the challenge in the difficulty of repeating itself over the years, due to the various unique characteristics of each vintage. Following the harvest and alcoholic fermentation, the wine destined to become Maremma Toscana Lodai is left to mature in French oak tonneaux from Allier, which is new and of second/third-use. Subsequently, the wine ages in the bottle for 6 months. The result is a wine that is a joyful expression of the land. In the glass, it is an intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals hints of berries and pink pepper, followed by tones of coffee, tobacco and cocoa. In the mouth, it has a good structure, with a well-balanced tannic texture and acidity. The finish is warm and fruity. Perfect to be enjoyed every day, it pairs well with red meat and game dishes.
