TASTING NOTES

The Fattoria Moretto Winery is a small family-run company in the Lambrusco Grasparossa area, now in its third generation. In fact, it was grandfather Antonio Altariva who, in the early 1960s, moved to the Castelvetresi hills, who started the business by renting the land. In 1971 his son Domenico bought 2.5 hectares on which the first owned vineyard was created, and from there the real growth of the winery began. In 1991 the two brothers Fabio and Fausto, Domenico's sons, decided to make a leap in quality, passing from the sale of bulk wine to private individuals to the production and sale of bottled Lambrusco Grasparossa DOC and the “Fattoria Moretto” brand was founded. Initially, the bottles produced are all naturally fermented in the bottle. At the end of the 90s, the winery switched to the Charmat method, in constant search for a cleaner and more elegant product. In fact, it is the older vineyards that steer the path of evolution in the vinification of the two "cru", the family's pride and joy. Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC "Canova" is a sparkling red wine from Emilia made from Lambrusco Grasparossa grapes. One week maceration at low temperature, to preserve the aromas, the fermentation takes place with only indigenous yeasts; second fermentation in a pressurized vat following the Charmat Method. In the glass it has an intense purplish red and a soft and long-lasting mousse; on the nose it combines vinous and geranium notes with those of wild strawberries, blackberries and plums. The palate is dry, fresh and pleasant. A wine for every day, we suggest its consumption paired with the typical cured meats of Emilia Romagna Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Moretto

The Fattoria Moretto estate has been carrying on its production for three generations. It is located in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, in the Lambrusco Grasparossa area to be precise. Since its foundation, the Altariva family has set itself the delicate goal of creating a wine that best enhances the terroir, while fully respecting the unique characteristics of the area and the vineyards themselves. Thanks to the family's study and dedication, today the company is able to produce wines from Emilia-Romagna that best express the most authentic and natural side of this region. The winery and vineyards are located two hundred metres above sea level, and its strategic location boasts a microclimate that gives the vineyards a unique character. Organic and sustainable cultivation is one of the strengths of the company, which has always been attentive to its relationship with the environment. Lambrusco wines are cultivated using the spurred cordon and guyot methods on loamy-clay soils. Thanks to the excellent ventilation of the area, the vineyards thrive and create a unique product. Name and address of producer/distributor: Moretto - Via Tiberia, 13/B, 41014 Castelvetro di Modena (MO). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
