TASTING NOTES

Gamay di Grosjean is made from the homonymous Gamay grapes, a vine native to Burgundy that has found an ideal location in the Valle d'Aosta area at an altitude between 700 and 850 m s.l.m. on mountainous, rugged and sunny terrain. The grapes are destemmed and macerated in contact with the skins for 5-6 days with three pumping over at controlled temperature. Fermentation and aging in steel follows. Gamay in purity is a wine of good balance, with a bright ruby red color, with a fruity bouquet, with strawberry in evidence, delicately intense, complex, soft, with good freshness and delicate tannic nuances. Gamay di Grosjean is excellent in combination with cold cuts, motzetta and lard, as well as soups of the Aosta Valley tradition. Grosjean has been working with the land and its fruits for generations: a representative winery of the Aosta Valley, synonymous with excellence and quality while respecting the best traditions of mountain viticulture. The history of the Grosjean family dates back to the late eighteenth century with a property today of 15 hectares divided into many parcels distributed in the most suitable areas of the territory. Today the winery is run by brothers and cousins who share the tasks in order to cover all the roles of the company. Since 2011, the company has been working in certified organic farming, in full respect of the pristine Alpine natural environment. Grosjean’s wines are simple, straightforward and true to tradition.
