TASTING NOTES

Cavalchina winery is located south-west of Verona, in the middle of the morainic amphitheatre of Lake Garda. After it first purchased the vineyard’s land, which started out as a pomace distillery in the early 1900s, soon after Cavalchina began to produce wines from grapes indigenous to the area. The fact that the first bottles of white wine were produced here in 1962, from Garganega, Fernanda and Trebbiano grapes, marketed with the geographical designation "Custoza" clearly visible on the label, is testimony to Cavalchina winery's ability to enhance the territory. With a complex and layered character, Custoza Superiore "Amedeo" is the winery's flagship white. It is produced from Garganega, Fernanda, Trebbiano and Trebbianello grapes, each of which is processed individually with the intention of enhancing their qualities to the fullest. The mildly aromatic Fernanda undergoes a cryomaceration process that brings out the most intense notes and scents of this grape variety, while the minerality of Garganega is enhanced by fermentation in slight reduction. Following this, the wine ages in stainless steel in contact with the fine lees, with continuous battonage until May. Straw yellow in colour with bright reflections, hints of exotic fruit and white flowers follow in the glass, and a mineral and slightly almondy palate on the finish. This Custoza Superiore is a Veneto white wine that can adapt to any situation, from aperitifs to everyday drinking, excellent paired with fish dishes and vegetarian recipes. Read more Read less

Cavalchina

The Cavalchina area is located at the south-eastern end of the Garda morainic amphitheatre, and it is here that the winery of the same name is located.
