TASTING NOTES

The area of the castles of Jesi is a set of amphitheatres overlooking the sea on gently sloping hills. The ancient white berry variety Verdicchio has found an ideal environment here, pampered by the breezes that drift from the Adriatic Sea towards the Apennines and the currents that descend from the mountains towards the sea. The DOC includes 24 municipalities between the provinces of Ancona and Macerata around the town of Jesi and traditionally called castles because they were fortified centres during the Middle Ages. Villa Bucci's Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore is a dry white wine produced solely from Verdicchio grapes. Harvesting takes place by hand with a first selection in the vineyard and a second in the wine cellar. Soft pressing of the grapes and fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature of the first flower only. The wine matures 6 months on the lees in large barrels before leaving the production facility. Intense yellow in colour, on the nose it has clear aromas of fresh fruit and white flowers with a good citrus underpinning and white pepper. On the palate it is dry and soft with lively acidity. A Marche white to be enjoyed every day. It goes well with dishes based on fish such as mackerel, salmon, tuna and crustaceans such as shrimps, crab and prawns. Also to be tried with white meats such as veal, pork and chicken. Also excellent with salads and side dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Villa Bucci

The Bucci farm, located in the Marche region, has been dedicated to agriculture and the production of high-quality wines since 1700. With a total area of over 350 hectares devoted to cultivation, 25 hectares are covered with vineyards, including red Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes. For more than 20 years, Villa Bucci has dedicated itself to organic cultivation, with great attention to the preservation of the surrounding area, both in the production of their traditional wines and in the production of the 20/25 quintals of extra virgin olive oil produced per year from their own olive groves. Villa Bucci offers prestigious wines, the result of a combination of tradition and innovation combined with the careful cultivation and processing of grapes. Villa Bucci is known for the care taken in the production of wines, including Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Piceno, an expression of the surrounding terroir and the fine red wines from Marche and white wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Villa Bucci - Contrada, Via Cona, 30, 60010 Ostra Vetere (AN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
